It’s funny, no matter what I write, my colleagues often say “I like your style, it’s soothing.” Soothing? What copywriter is soothing?

It doesn’t sound like the copywriting you probably hear about. And you may not be impressed. But don't be fooled. Many products, especially books and audios, are designed to help those who are distraught and truly need your help. Someone who feels that way won't be relieved to discover a fire engine red headline that makes hard-to-believe promises.

If that person is your best customer, soothing copy is just what you - and your prospects - need.

But that's still not enough. You need one more thing from your copywriter; something that goes above and beyond just writing the sales letter. You need a copywriter who builds relationships with your prospects. I understand . . .

Why it's so Important to Build Long-Term Relationships - Even for Just One Sale

Marketing professionals know the cost of getting a new client is much higher than the cost of keeping an existing client. That's one great reason to establish a good relationship with new clients, especially if you sell more than one product, or an ongoing service.

Even if you have just one product to sell, happy customers will be better for your business than unhappy customers. You'll be happier too, knowing that your product or service is helping your customers.

When you build good relationships with your prospects and new customers you can:

  • Solicit testimonials – These are important for building trust, which helps you sell more of your product.
  • Avoid negative word of mouth – Bad press can seriously damage your business.
  • Develop a targeted client base – You’ll be able to create a list of people who are already interested in the kinds of products or services you offer, and who are more likely to buy from you later, if they trust you.
  • Reduce your marketing costs – As I mentioned, the cost of customer acquisition is much higher than the cost of customer retention. If you’re putting a sales letter online, you’ll need to spend money needlessly later on if you don’t use that letter to build a list of prospects and customers. And you’ll build that list by building trust.
  • Feel proud and happy – You’ve just helped people with your product, and what could be better than that?

How do you establish these relationships? By building trust in your sales letter. And by keeping in touch with new and prospective clients.

If that sounds like a lot of work, no need to worry. That's my job. It is a lot of work, and I love it!

Can You Really Earn Unlimited Profits?

Yes, but there are some qualifications, although you can work towards meeting them if you don't already.

To earn unlimited profits, you need to:

  • Have a good, solid product that meets a need.
  • Be willing to invest in a good copywriter (or be a highly skilled copywriter yourself).
  • Be willing and financially able to invest in driving traffic to your website.
  • Be willing and able to build a list (I can do most of that work).

As I've mentioned before, if you don't have a good product, you don't have a business.

But pay attention to the other part of that first requirement. Does your product meet a need? Have you done market research to be sure there is a market for what you're selling? It can be frustrating if you have a passion for a subject that isn't popular. But the great thing about this limitation is the good you'll be doing when you do truly meet a need, and the pride you'll feel when you know you're helping others.

If you don't know how to drive traffic to your website, I can help you with that. But you must be willing to make the investment needed to do this, just as any business must invest in advertising to survive.

Once you've done that, building a list is simple, and I do most of the work.

If you can't meet these requirements, you're not ready to hire a copywriter, and I won't waste your hard-earned money by working with you. But I can help you get on the road to meeting them so that when we do work together it will be fruitful for you.
